WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, " All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Mark 16:15-16

And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.

1 Peter 3:13-17

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5-20-21

"EVANGELISM IS NOTHING MORE THAN ONE BEGGAR
TELLING ANOTHER BEGGAR WHERE TO FIND BREAD."

This quote is from Our Daily Bread - July, 2002 Issue.

HOW TO MAKE A RING
This stitch courtesy of Claudia Ramsey

The ring that is used to begin a circular crochet item is simple to make...
just work the number of chains stated in the pattern and then
join the first one to the last one with a slip stitch... this creates a ring
within which you will work your first round.

To begin a round using double crochet stitches I like to chain 4 and then work 11 doubles into the
4th chain from the hook... that way you don't have to make the ring at all. This is all a matter of
preference and your pattern should instruct you on the way the designer wants you to begin.

CROCHET TIP:

There should be only one loop left on the hook at the completion of each stitch or sequence.

RE: THANKS

If it won't be to much can you send me some ideas or patterns for a beginner like me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart cause i was just up to my wits end..marie

Dear Marie:

I'm glad my site is helpful to you. Feel free to stop by
anytime and write me with any questions you have... that's what
I'm here for.

The Rainbow Wave Afghan is a very easy pattern (all single crochets

strategically placed):
http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/august98_crochproject.html
My Mom loves this one... I've made her two already :o)

Another of my favorites is the Jamie Baby Afghan.
http://www.steffosborne.com/knit/c-jambaf.txt
I've made quite a few of them and they go really fast.
It includes the chain, single and double crochet stitches.
The size is easily adjusted on this pattern also.

Lisa

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This site is just what I needed.

Just a note, I made the ABC Afghan I found on your site for my new
grandson. I only made a small change, I did the basic blanket in royal
blue and the letters (only) in white. My daughter in law told me how
many compliments she received and people wanting to know where I got the
instructions. I told her to tell people to go to your site. Anyone who
enjoys crocheting, has to love your site. Unfortunately, the afghan was
so nice, someone stoll it out of his carriage! However, it was very easy
to make and I am in the process of making another. Just thought you'd
like to know.

Thanks again. I needed this info for a shawl I want to make and the
instructions only mention yardage. This was a new one on me!

Enjoy the summer.

Mary

...........Mary's Original Message............
| Dear Lisa,
|
| I recently found a pattern that calls for yardage of yarn rather than
| ounces, balls, skeins or hanks.
|
| No where have I been able to find an approximate yardage for one hank of
| yarn. The conversion charts just convert yards to meters, ounces to
| grams and vice versa, NOTHING about the yardage in, say, 4 oz.
|
| Can you help?
|
| Thanks,
|
| Mary Cherry

The site I sent Mary about yardage was:
http://www.yarns-and.com/yarnto.htm

I really appreciate your site. I am relatively a new crocheter. I can do very simple things, but need to see how to form a ring so I can make circular items. If you have already done it, please guide me to the site.

I also appreciate your dedication to the Lord. It is nice to see someone show from Whom their strength comes.

Claudia Ramsey

HUMOR

Jonah!

A man traveling down a country road was forced to stop before a giant puddle
covering the entire road. Looking to the side of the road, the man noticed
a farmer leaning on a fence. "Think it's safe to cross?" the man asked.

"I reckon so," replied the farmer.

The car was immediately swallowed by the puddle as the man drove in. In
fact, it was so deep that he had to roll his window down to swim out of his
car back to the surface.

As his head broke the surface the man said to the farmer, "I thought you
said I could safely drive through this puddle!"

"Well, golly!" said the farmer, scratching his head.

"It only come up chest-high on my ducks!"

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation. There he meets an Aussie
farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the
Texan says, "Oh! We have wheat fields that are at least twice as large".

Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd
of cattle. The Texan immediately says, " We have longhorns that are at
least twice as large as your cows".

The conversation has, meanwhile, almost died when the Texan sees a herd of
kangaroos hopping through the field. He asks, "And what are those"?

The Aussie replies with an incredulous look, "Don't you have any
grasshoppers in Texas"?

A fellow went into a restaurant and asked,

'What's the special of the day?'

The waiter replied, 'Beef Tongue.'

The fellow said, 'Ugh! I don't want anything coming out of a cow's mouth...

Fry me up a couple of eggs!'"

While sports fishing off Melbourne Beach, a tourist capsized his boat. He
could swim, but his fear of alligators kept him clinging to the overturned
craft.

Spotting and old beachcomber standing on the shore, the tourist shouted,
"Are there any gators around here?!"

"Naw," the man hollered back, "they ain't been around for years!"

"Feeling safe, the tourist started swimming leisurely toward the shore.
About halfway there he asked the guy, "How'd you get rid of the gators?"

"We didn't do nothin'," the beach bum said.

"The sharks got 'em."

A farmer stood leaning on a fence at the edge of his property. He
watched as a red sports car came over the top of a hill and followed
the road up to the spot where he stood. The driver pulled over to
the side of the road and called out to the farmer.

"Do you know how I can get to Route 91?" the driver asked.
The farmer thought for a few seconds. Then he said, "Nope."

"Do you know where the nearest turnpike entrance is?" the driver asked.
"Nope."

"How about the town of Hadley. Do you know which direction it is from here?"
"Nope."

Exasperated, the driver raced his engine. "You don't know very much, do you?" he said.
"Nope," the farmer replied. "But I'm not lost."

Two gas company servicemen, a senior training supervisor and a young
trainee, were out checking meters in a suburban neighborhood.

They parked their truck the end of the alley and worked their way to the
other end. At the last house, a woman looking out her kitchen window
watched the two men as they checked her gas meter.

Finishing the meter check, the senior supervisor challenged his younger
co-worker to a foot race down the alley back to the truck to prove that an
older guy could outrun a younger one.

As they came running up to the truck, they realized the lady from that last
house was huffing and puffing right behind them. They stopped and asked her
what was wrong.

Gasping for breath, she replied, "When I saw two men from the gas company
running as hard as you two were, I figured I'd better run too!"

Mrs. Lonefold's dishwasher quit working, so she called a repairman.

He couldn't accommodate her with an evening appointment, and, since she had
to go to work the next day, she told him: "I'll leave the key under the mat.
Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I'll mail you the
check. By the way, don't worry about my Rottweiler. He won't bother you.
But, whatever you do, do not under *any* circumstances talk to my parrot!"

When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Lonefold's apartment the next day, he
discovered the biggest and meanest looking Rottweiler he had ever seen.

But, just like she had said, the dog just lay there on the carpet, watching
the repairman go about his business.

However, the whole time he was there, the parrot drove him nuts with
incessant cursing, yelling, and name-calling. Finally the repairman
couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled: "Shut up, you stupid ugly
bird!!"

To which the parrot replied: "GET HIM, Brutus!!"
